Post 4: 7 pinciples for building better cities

Peter Calthorpe is an architect, designer and urban planer, and in this speech in the "Ted Talk", he talk about the New Urbanism and he name 7 principles for building better cities. We have many problem in the cities now, and  like future architects, urbans  and designer we have to clash it, Calthorpe mention this, specific the climate change, transit, long distance, density of poblation , and with all these problems in a future we have to building cities for billion people.

He view of urbanism it is about mix and the importance about connections and transit in the cities,  for example: "cars"; it have problem with the footprint, but also this is so expensive and take too much time, but if a "mix" is planned in the city, in whoch to walk, ride a bicycle, cars and household are in balace, for the future billions of people will be benefit

I am agree his view of urbanism, I think that the long distance between places is a big issue, because it is not only take time to travel, also, in the time that take come to a far away place, we lose time to share with our families at home or be with our friends. I am lucky for live in a place of Santiago that do not have big blocks  for many families/persons (like the "guetos verticales" in Estación Central), but I do not have good conections with the essential services, and this is a problem for many people of here, so we have to do good design for mix and improve connections in the city and between people.
